I was on a long morning walk about canoodling with all the many blooming Hawthorn trees this time of year. She is glorious in billowy white and pinkish plumes of little dime sized flowers. Yet as I nuzzled her bouquet, Hawthorn seemed frustrated, maybe even a little sad.
She is a vital, underutilized, medicine for these times. I sense that she feels what I have been witnessing in the people.
There has been a sudden increase in heart problems, many sending people to the hospital. Almost daily I hear of someone dealing with sudden heart issues, as I did today and why I am writing about this. What is happening?
When I speculate, pray and listen this is what I hear:
We can no longer bury the heartbreak of the times we are living in and all that has been endured, ignored and swept under the rug that got us here.
It is true that there is a tremendous Love revolution happening which is stirring up the thickest shadows in people’s lives right now. It is also true that the compounding generational trauma has been so hard on our precious hearts, and the heart of the world, that our hearts are struggling to beat in step with the rhythm of Life. The beat of the Earth, of natural rhythm (aka the Schumann resonance), has been subdued under the noise of our so called advancements.
Almost 2 billion people were prescribed heart medications in the US alone last year. That is devastating. And, no it is likely not genetic. Your grandfather and father had heart issues this is true, but not because God made a mistake with their hearts. Very few cases of heart issues are actually genetic. However, they are epigenetic. Unhealed heartbreak can definitely be inherited.
Also, dare I say that we can no longer ignore the obvious correlation between an increase in sudden heart issues, heart attacks and the events and invasive “medicines” of the last 3 years.
Our hearts are each a cosmic sound box designed to be in resonance with the sustaining, life giving vibrations of Universal Life. We are wired to listen to and follow our hearts, yet very few do. Our hearts are capable of conscious expansion through our capacity to love, grieve, love more and let Life guide- which amplifies our own vibrational field that in return attracts vitality, abundance and more life force towards us.
We need our hearts to thrive and survive. But if they are systemically broken and malnourished from trauma, loss and the many poisons we are subject to, and left without ritual, prayer and the medicines of the Earth to clear the cracks so more light can come through, we stifle the song of life and invite illness. Our hearts are integral in keeping that Universal rhythm alive for all beings. It is a sacred law.
Place your hand on your heart. Listen to it. Feel it. Your heart beat lived alongside your mother’s heart beat. Your heart beat is a vibrating star that spiraled through time, with a love mission, landed in the womb of a woman and then grew a body around itself to be a beacon of that Love. Yet we turn away from our hearts. We don’t trust Love to lead the way. A heart in balance will always show us the next right step that serves not only our lives but all lives.
Heart is an archetype, an essence, a magic muscle, a song, a vibration, a shield of sovereign boundaries, a rose.
It takes a LOT of heart to be here on Earth. The heart is one of the most resilient, and one of the most tender, parts of us. It can sustain a lot. But even the most mighty tree breaks under a non- stop storm. Bless your heart. I mean, say a blessing to your heart. Write it a thank you note today. Nourish the thing that doesn’t ask for anything in return but maybe for you to sing along to the ever-present love song.
~I have been serving a lot of magic medicine lately. People are in desperate need of help. They have lost heart. Many of them are on heart meds and concerned about taking magic mushrooms.
I have guided heroes doses with elders who are on mutltiple medications, have Afib, arrhythmia, stints, family history of this and that- and they have all been fine. Yes, we worked with other modalities and consulted doctors for peace of mind.
And- I bring in my number one heart ally- Hawthorn. Between the magic mushrooms and Hawthorn we have a prescription for heart healing.
Psilocybin will raise the heart rate. Yet, not nearly as much as the other master entheogens which is one of the many reasons I serve this medicine. It will also regulate imbalances. This happens as it acts on the more than 40,000 neurons in the heart in all the mysterious ways, to clear and re-pattern old pathways clogged with those tears that you, your mom and your grandma’s mama didn’t cry.
Then we add some Hawthorn in little drop doses in the integration plan, along with microdosing and some nature time, and the heart gets a chance to heal.
“Hawthorn has been shown to lower unhealthy cholesterol and high blood pressure by improving the deposition of lipids in the walls of the capillaries and red blood cells. Hawthorn also has an affinity for coronary circulation, reducing the risk of heart attack and relieving symptoms of angina. It tones vessels and reduces heat.” ~paraphrased from Matthew Wood (The Earthwise Herbal”)
I harvest Hawthorn in late May for the flowers with the thorns. The energetics of those two elements help harmonize the masculine and feminine within our hearts so that there is balanced expression with clear boundaries.
Ancestrally for many of us, Hawthorn was a sacred medicine for our people and revered by the Druids for its ability to transport us to the Otherworld for divine communion. They say not to fall asleep under the Hawthorn tree as the Lady in White is bound to seduce you into lifelong entrancement- similar to the Siren. I have a lock of my hair in a Hawthorn on the hill of Uisneach in Ireland, and it was a random Hawthorn in the desert that opened my song on a vision quest. She is a beauty to love, respect and be mystified by- like the heart.
Healing the heart is a holy process as it takes great courage (of the heart) to meet all of those cracks and clean them out. Which is why a sacred ally to support you with sacred medicines is so valuable. We need each other, the heart knows this. We need the Earth and Her medicines, the heart beats to this truth.
You know where to find me for a sacred medicine journey back to the heart.
